Hair Loss and Treatment
Hair loss is a common dermatologic and cosmetic problem that occurs frequently in men and women for certain reasons and under certain conditions throughout life. The average number of hair follicles in a person is approximately 100,000.
Each hair strand grows 1-1.5 cm per month, and the average lifespan of a hair is 2-5 years. The hair strand that has completed its life cycle at the end of this period falls out, so it is normal to lose 75-100 hairs per day. Hair loss exceeding these numbers should be investigated.

CONTACT USCauses of Hair Loss
The underlying cause of hair loss should be determined by requesting a detailed dermatologic examination and laboratory tests from the person who presents with a complaint of hair loss.
Most Common Causes of Hair Loss:
Androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, immune system disorders, infectious diseases, and hormonal factors are among the causes of hair loss.
Androgenetic Alopecia
It is a condition most commonly observed in males, inherited from either the mother or father. It can begin after puberty and is most commonly seen in the 20s to 30s. Over time, the density of hair on the top and mid part of the scalp decreases, and the hair becomes thinner and lighter in men. In women, it is hereditary in 50% of cases, and its incidence increases after menopause.
Telogen Effluvium
Telogen effluvium is the most common cause of hair loss observed in the examination. This condition is often associated with severe and sudden weight loss, infectious diseases, febrile illnesses, post-pregnancy (especially 3-4 months after birth), iron deficiency, after surgery, and hormonal or thyroid problems.
Treatment of Hair Loss
The choice of treatment depends on the underlying cause.
Hair transplantation is considered the most effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia. Additionally, for patients who either opt against hair transplantation or in combination with the procedure, treatments such as hair loss treatment and hair mesotherapy are employed to preserve the health of the hair follicles on the scalp.
